JOSÉ TEIXEIRA

José Teixeira is a Full Professor at the University of Minho and President of the Scientific Council of Portugal Foods. He is a member of the Scientific Steering Committee and previous Head of the Research Unit Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) and serves since 2009 as the President of the Portuguese Biotechnology Society. He is also a member of the Institute of Food Technologists.
He has extensive research experience in Industrial Biotechnology (bioprocess development for the transformation of lignocellulosic materials into 2nd generation bioethanol and chemicals; valorization of agro-industrial residues; bioreactor development and continuous processing) and Food Biotechnology (non-conventional food processing; edible films for packaging; food nanotechnology, process development for production of prebiotics).

HÉCTOR RUIZ

Hector A. Ruiz has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Autonomous University of Coahuila (2004, Mexico) and PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the Biological Engineering Center of the University of Minho, Portugal (2011). He is currently full Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry, founder of the Biorefinery Group and responsible for the Biorefinery Pilot Plant for Biomass Fractionation at the Autonomous University of Coahuila in Mexico, and coordinator of the biomass pretreatment stage in the Bioalcohols Cluster of the Mexican Center for Bioenergy Innovation (Cemie-Bio) of the Mexican Ministry of Energy in Mexico.

RAÚL MUÑOZ

Raul Muñoz has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Valladolid (2001) and a PhD in Environmental Biotechnology from the University of Lund (2005). He is currently Professor of Environmental Technology in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology, and researcher at the Institute of Sustainable Processes of the University of Valladolid. His research has focused on biogas valorization and wastewater treatment with microalgae.

Francisco Gírio, PhD, is Principal Researcher and Head of Bioenergy Department of LNEG-National Laboratory of Energy and Geology, Lisbon, Portugal since 2009.He is currently member of the Management Board of Bioenergy Joint Program of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA-Bioenergy) and member of the Steering Committee of the European Technology and Innovation Platform on Bioenergy (ETIP- Bioenergy).
He is also member of the Scientific Council and Board of Trustees of the Spanish Institute IMDEA Energy (Spain) and President of SIADEB - Iberoamerican Society for the Development of Biorefineries.

Dr. Philippe Evon is Research Engineer at the Laboratory of Agro-industrial Chemistry. He obtained his habilitation to supervise researches (HDR) in 2019. He is heading since 2008 the Agromat technological transfer hall dedicated to agromaterials in Tarbes near Toulouse, France. His scientific interests range from the biorefinery of whole plants to the valorization of wastes from biomass to produce extracts and to design agromaterials.
